On this tour you will get to encounter the breathtaking beauty of Arenal Volcano and the National park. You will take a leisurely hike on the well-maintained trails surrounding the base of the volcano and Lake Arenal. Immerse yourself in a captivating 1.5-hour rainforest natural history walk accompanied by our knowledgeable guide. During the tour you will have a chance to capture stunning photos of the volcano, lake and extinct Cerro Chato. Our trails are selected by our guides in order to provide families, kids and other nature enthusiasts with an unforgettable experience and chance to see birds, monkeys and other native animals in their natural habitat.
El Silencio Hike – 3.7-km loop (3.7 miles) / 1.5 hours – This route takes you to the Mirador el Silencio from where you can admire the views of the nearby Arenal Volcano. And especially its ancient lava flows, now converted into rock, which descend the slope of the volcano to the valley. The route goes through a tropical forest to the viewpoint passing through the trails.
- You can use the facilities and read up on the history of the area before your guided walk. Then we’ll hike through well-groomed, easy trails that skirt the base of the Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal Area.
- This guided walk of El Silencio Viewpoint Trail provides perfect photo opportunities and magnificent views of the impressive Arenal Volcano and the lava fields.

We pick up from hotels, condos and private residences in Arenal/La Fortuna area. Some locations have an extra fee, charged at check out.
If your hotel, house, or condo is not included, we will provide you with the closest meeting location.
Pick ups begin approximately 45 minutes before the start of your tour. We will send you an official pick up time the day before the tour. Please be ready outside 10 minutes before your scheduled pick up time, but it can take up to 10 minutes longer depending on the day’s pick up schedule and traffic.
Special Notes
- We are a company that prides itself in sound ecological and sustainable tourism practices. We adhere to Costa Rica National Park guidelines to stay on authorized paths and do not permit the extraction of plants or the feeding of wild animals.
- The minimum to operate the shared tour is 2 people, if we don’t meet the minimum we will send options 1 or 2 days before
- Children must be accompanied by an adult
- We operate this tour rain or shine! In the event of severe weather, we will contact you with options.
- Not recommended for participants with heart complaints or other serious medical conditions
- A moderate amount of walking is involved
- Age limit – no minimum – we recommend young children are brought in a carrier.
